While Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys have built some solid offensive line groups over the years, their group in 2024 has a chance to be incredibly special.
In a recent list from 247Sports’ Blake Brockermeyer, the Cowboys edged past some impressive programs to earn the No. 1 spot on the list.
“Surprised? Oklahoma State gets the nod for the best offensive line with the experience and the production they return at every position entering the season,” Brockermeyer said. “The Cowboys return a veteran and battle-tested group with over 200 starts that paved the way for Ollie Gordon II’s award-winning season in 2023.”
“Dalton Cooper (6-7, 290, 49 starts) and Jake Springfield (6-6, 320, 40 starts) form one of the top offensive tackle combinations in the Big 12. Preston Wilson (6-4, 290, 34 starts) and Cole Birmingham (6-5, 330, 26 starts) return as the starting guards. Joe Michalski (6-5, 300, 23 starts) returns as a team captain and starting center and was their best lineman in 2023. Arizona State transfer Isaia Glass is expected to be the swing tackle and has a lot of experience. Jason Brooks Jr. and Taylor Miterko are expected to be the top reserves at guard. The Cowboys will need to build depth and inject some experience with young players this season as they will likely lose their entire unit after the season.”
Brockermeyer then discussed the Cowboys offensive line coach, saying,” Charlie Dickey is entering his 37th season as an offensive line coach and is known as an excellent teacher and evaluator who maximizes the talent of his unit’s strengths. Expect a player-led room in 2024 for this talented and vested group.”
With a wealth of experience returning to Stillwater in 2024 on the offensive line, Ollie Gordon, Alan Bowman, and the rest of the playmakers on offense will likely enter the season as one of the best units in the Big 12 Conference.
