With the West Virginia Mountaineers being given some of the worst odds to advance to the College World Series, head coach Randy Mazey spoke about the disrespect.

“I think they’re overlooking us,” Mazey said. “I know these people, I played in the ACC. The people over there, they’re making hotel reservations in Omaha.”

Mazey’s full comments read, “I think they’re overlooking us. I know these people, I played in the ACC. I know the people in that area. They’re making hotel reservations in Omaha. I promise you that. This is what we need. This is West Virginia throwback baseball. Underdogs. Underestimate us. They don’t know what they’re in for.”

The Mountaineers are currently listed as 2.5 run underdogs to the North Carolina Tar Heels on DraftKings Sportsbook, and are given +210 odds to advance to the College World Series. The two teams remaining from the Big 12 Conference, West Virginia and Kansas State, were both awarded some of the worst odds to win the 2024 College World Series.

Mazey and the Mountaineers will have a chance to prove their doubters wrong when they take on No. 4 North Carolina on Friday, June 7th, at 6:00 p.m. in Chapel Hill.
