While it’s no secret that the Sunflower Showdown is one of the most intense rivalries in all of college sports, two key players for Kansas added some fuel to the fire ahead of the matchup in 2024.

In a recent podcast episode featuring junior cornerback Cobee Bryant and freshman pass rusher Deshawn Warner, the duo discussed their feelings toward their in-state rival, Kansas State.

“I hate K-State,” Warner said. “Before I even committed, I hated K-State.”

Bryant then responded by asking, “Do you see how all the fans be trolling me?”

“They were the first ever school to recruit me,” Warner continued. “They never offered me, always said they were going to offer me.”

“It’s bad blood now, I know we have to do it to them now,” Bryant said. “Manhattan’s crazy, Manhattan’s crazy too, wait til you see, Manhattan is crazy.”

Bryant then discussed a game he recalled from his freshman season, in which several Kansas State fans were kicked out of the stadium for allegedly throwing trash at the Jayhawks in Manhattan.

While the bad blood off the field between Kansas and Kansas State has been a spectacle to witness, on the football field, it has been all Kansas State. The Wildcats have won 15 straight games against Kansas dating back to the 2008 season, when Mark Mangiano’s Jayhawks took care of Ron Prince’s Wildcats 52-21.

Kansas and Kansas State will meet again in Manhattan in Week 8 of the 2024 College Football Season.
