Spain and France meet at Allianz Arena in Munich this Tuesday in the UEFA Euro 2024 semifinals with a place in Sunday’s Berlin final against either the Netherlands or England at stake for both.
La Roja and Les Bleus are two of Europe’s powerhouse soccer nations and have five titles between them with the Spanish winning twice — 2008 and 2012 — since the previous French victory of 2000.
Didier Deschamps was France captain then and lifted the trophy as a player, but he has yet to get his hands on it as a tactician and the French are hoping that their rock solid defense can take them to Olympiastadion.
Les Bleus lost in the 2016 final and went out in the round of 16 in the 2020 edition while this is Spain’s second consecutive final four outing having also made it this far last time out.
Luis de la Fuente’s side are the outstanding attacking force in Germany and could make history if they win a sixth consecutive game at this edition but will need to break down this tournament’s best back line.
