While international prospects can take longer to get in-person evaluations from recruiting experts, one top-tier Big 12 freshman is undergoing a sizeable upgrade.

In a recent story from 247Sports’ Director of Scouting, Adam Finkelstein, a group of experts broke down some of the nation’s top international prospects, which gave some serious love to BYU‘s Egor Demin.

“With the Olympics in full swing and the FIBA u18 European Championships currently taking place in Finland, we thought it was only appropriate to talk international basketball on this week’s episode of the 247Sports College Basketball Show,” Finkelstein said. “BYU’s Egor Demin is a jumbo 6-foot-8 guard from Russia who most recently played with Real Madrid. He’s being touted as a potential “one-and-done” prospect and will be given 5-star status as well as a No. 16 ranking in the class of 2024.”

Demin, a 6-foot-9 guard-forward from Russia, is currently projected to be a lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and is one of the world’s most talented collegiate prospects.

“Demin is a versatile guard who is a terrific passer and scorer,” SBNation’s Robby McCombs writes. “He has the playmaking ability to play point guard and size to play on the wing. His versatility was on full display last week in Berlin, where he led the Real Madrid U18 Squad to an Adidas NGT championship. In the finals, Egor had 26 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. The 18-year-old re-asserted himself as a potential lottery pick in the 2025 draft.”

Through his last four outings, the Russian native posted some impressive numbers. Demin recorded an average of 18 points, 9.2 rebounds, and three assists per game. Demin is expected to be a major part of the Cougars 2024 squad, that enters Big 12 play with a new head coach on the bench.
