MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Showboats player Diondre Overton died Saturday night after a shooting, according to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies in North Carolina received a noise complaint call at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, September 7. When police made it to the scene, they were told a shooting had occurred.
The male victim was later identified as 26-year-old Diondre Overton. Overton was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
The United Football League and the Memphis Showboats announced his passing on Twitter/X, saying, “The United Football League and the Memphis Showboats are heartbroken and mourn the tragic loss of Diondre Overton. Our hearts and prayers go out to Diondreâs family, friends and teammates. We send our sincere condolences during this difficult time.”
