Jayden Daniels dominates the Cardinals, college football Isn’t in trouble, GCU v ASU. more…

I’ve seen this movie many, many, many times over the last thirty-one years here in the Valley.

SIXTY games ago, Washington broke the 40-point barrier. Sunday, they cruised past that mark.

13 points scored last week, 14 points Sunday against Washington. That’s not going to get many W’s in the column. The numbers don’t lie. But the passing yards are a big concern.

The Cardinals get run over by Washington from start to finish, losing big 42-14. Now, the fan base is getting antsy about Kyler Murray, while Jayden Daniels was smooth and effective for the winners, and everything felt hard for Murray on Sunday. Daniels missed on just three

1-3 through the first four for the hometown heroes on the gridiron.

Kliff Kingsbury didn’t take a stupid pill when he came to Arizona, and he didn’t take an intelligent pill when he left. He’s a good football mind, and he owned the Cardinals on Sunday. The lower bowl was filled with Washington fans who had a party in Glendale…

On to two straight road games at San Francisco and Green Bay. Finding a way to eight wins and a playoff berth doesn’t look very promising(I’m being Captain Obvious here)…

It should never have come down to this. On June 19th at Washington, the Diamondbacks blew a lead and were 0-5 with runners in scoring position at Washington in a 3-1 loss. A Friday night in late June at home against an undermanned Oakland team, where the A’s hit three home runs in the 9th off of Brandon Hughes to put the game out of reach. It was just last Sunday when the Diamondbacks blew an 8-0 lead and lost 10-9 to Milwaukee. Yep, the beauty of baseball is the 162-game grind. A game given away in June can keep you out of the postseason in late September. This Diamondbacks team gave away more than a few games over the last six months. I’m not going to carry the hometown flag on this one. They don’t belong in the postseason, but here they are, needing help from either the Braves or Mets on Monday to keep their season going. One of those two teams has to win both games in their doubleheader…

College Football isn’t dying. Alabama vs. Georgia proved that the two teams will meet again in the CFP in late December/January.

A quarterback can quit on his team at UNLV over an NIL issue, and then his former team can move to 4-0 and be in the middle of the At-Large-Berth in the College Football Playoff…

Former Hamilton High QB Tyler Shough celebrated his 25th birthday on Saturday while keeping Louisville alive in a close toss at Notre Dame. Former Valley high school stars Ben Morrison(Brophy Prep) and Kennedy Urlacher(Casteel/Chandler) both played in the game for the Irish. Our depth of high school talent in AZ going on to college is quite impressive…

GCU to the Pac-12 makes a lot of sense. If you notice, Grand Canyon University has been very quiet since the Pac decided to pursue Gonzaga. I find it hard to believe that the GCU would be content in the WCC if they had a shot at being in the nationally branded Pac-12 with the Zags. Stay tuned on that front…

I heard from more than one person who attended a GCU student welcome back in August that ‘Lopes prez Brian Mueller referred to the December basketball matchup with Arizona State as the Christians vs. the Devils. I love it…
