Mourinho was booked during Fenerbahce’s win over Antalyspor.

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho was shown what is believed to be a ‘never-before-seen’ yellow card during his side’s 2-0 win over Antalyspor on Sunday.

Yellow cards for managers were reduced back in 2018, with regulations since updated to account for a range of different offences.

The fact that the rule has been in place for six years is perhaps a good thing for Mourinho, who could have had countless sanctions for his various antics at Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and others.

But he has never been given a caution like the one he received away to Antalyspor on Sunday evening.

Fenerbahce had a goal ruled out for offside on the field – with Mourinho less than happy with the decision.

Incensed, he marched over towards the fourth official, with viewers perhaps thinking he would verbally protest the decision.

But he carried his laptop with him – before placing it on top of the VAR camera to show a replay of the decision to the fourth official.

Referee Cihan Aydin, who has officiated in the Champions League this season, deemed Mourinho’s action to be dissent and gave him a yellow card.

You can watch the clip below.

Instead of taking the laptop back to the dugout with him, Mourinho just left it on top of the camera to allow the officials to see what he believed to be a mistake.

After Dusan Tadic’s opening goal, Fenerbahce did get their second goal to finish the game off three minutes after Mourinho’s booking, with an own goal from Antalyspor defender Thalisson Kelven securing the win.

They are currently in second place in the Turkish Super Lig table with five wins, a draw and a defeat from their seven games, and sit three points behind league leaders Galatasaray.

Fenerbahce are also competing in this season’s Europa League, with Mourinho set for a reunion with former club Manchester United later in the group stage.

That match takes place on October 24 at the Ulker Stadium Sukru Saracoglu – with the Portuguese boss hoping not to be suspended for that occasion.
