Wednesday recap: WWCC’s women’s soccer team beats Treasure Valley

Goals by Walla Walla Community College’s women’s soccer teammates Emily Gohl and Lexi Bott as well as shutout defense Wednesday, Oct. 16, lifted the Warriors over Treasure Valley with a 2-0 win at their Northwest Athletic Conference East Region match on the WWCC pitch. 

Victory made the Warriors divisional record so far this season 5-1-3, ranking them third of the eight teams, with their overall mark at 10-1-4.

Among other highlights for the Warriors was Bailey Bloxham contributing an assist while they outshot Treasure Valley, 23-4.

The Warriors went to halftime up 1-0 after Gohl sent a shot to the back of the net in the 32nd minute. Bloxham then set up Bott to double their lead at 54:00.

College men’s soccer

WWCC 6, TREASURE VALLEY 0 — The second-place Warriors (11-2-3) dominated their NWAC East match with teammates Tommy Vargas, Soren Hanson and Dean Figueroa each chalking up a goal and an assist while Aaron Lowry helped their defense record the shutout with his four saves in Walla Walla.

The WWCC scoring barrage also had teammates David Campos, Danny Franco and Yahir Arguello each scoring a goal while Almikar Garcia made an assist. Vargas put them up 1-0 in the 18th minute, off a feed from Hanson, and the Warriors never looked back.
