Former Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond has secured another opportunity to play professional football. Per the official X account of the UFL’s San Antonio Brahmas, the team has reached an agreement with Mond.

Mond is a San Antonio native, so the fit makes sense.

“THE BEST JUST GOT BETTER,” said the team’s announcement post.

Mond has been a free agent since being released by the New Orleans Saints back in May.

The QB was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the 3rd round of the 2021 NFL Draft after 4 seasons at Texas A&M. With the Aggies, Mond threw for 9,661 yards with 71 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. The QB also rushed for 1,609 yards and 22 TDs.

Mond’s dual-threat ability made him an intriguing NFL draft prospect. Unfortunately, Mond never got much of a chance in Minnesota. The QB completed just 2 passes for 5 yards before being released after his rookie season.

Mond spent 2022 as a backup with the Cleveland Browns and then spent time on the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad in 2023. As mentioned above, Mond was brought in by the Saints this offseason but failed to latch on.

Now, Mond will try to revive his career in the UFL. The QB may have landed in the perfect place, as the Brahmas were the champions of the XFL conference in 2024. Legendary coach Wade Phillips is the head man for the Brahmas, so Mond will have a mentor who knows how to win.

The 2025 UFL regular season will begin on March 28, 2025.
