Ange Postecoglou has made his feelings clear regarding reports linking him with the England job following Gareth Southgate’s resignation.

Southgate called time on his position at England just two days after their Euro 2024 final heartbreak to Spain, who ran out 2-1 winners in Berlin.

The 53-year-old guided the Three Lions to back-to-back Euros finals as he managed his country for 102 games in eight years in charge.

Several names have since been linked with the England gig, including a Premier League manager who is thought to be the FA’s ideal pick.

Tottenham boss Postecoglou, who joined the club last summer, has also been rumoured to succeed Southgate, according to stunning reports.

And after his side’s 5-1 pre-season victory over Hearts on Wednesday, he was asked about the reports linking him with the England post.

The Australian, however, shut down the rumours as he insists he is fully focused on bringing success to Spurs.

“I’m in the middle of… the start of pre-season,” he told Sky Sports.

“I’m the Tottenham manager, and I’ve got nothing else but trying to bring success to this football club.

“Until I do that, there’s no point in me thinking about anything else. I had a nap this afternoon, mate, so I have no idea what’s going on.”

Postecoglou, 58, is no stranger to international management, having taken charge of Australia as he secured World Cup qualification during his spell.

“I enjoyed my time [as Australia boss]. We won the Asia Cup, qualified for the World Cup,” he added.

“But with all these things, there’s always a natural end, and I thought there was a natural end for me there. I loved coaching the national team.

“Maybe in the future [I will return to international management], who knows? Five years ago I was in Japan and now I’m in the Premier League, so…”
