Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has never hidden her admiration for Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson. In a recent interview, Reese has made it clear just how much she looks up to the WNBA legend.

During her WSJ interview, Reese opened up about the positive influence Wilson has had on her, praising the three-time MVP for her warmth and constant support.

She described Wilson as a joyful presence and someone she can always count on, highlighting the bond they share both on and off the court.

“I just love being able to see a woman in sports that thrives through everything,” Reese said. “And just knowing that it wasn’t an easy journey for her, it has never been an easy journey for me.

“So just being able to look up to her and look at her, and see, like, that’s where I want to be one day-just thrive and walk in her footsteps, because she’s laid the ground for me to be able to do that. She’s been nothing but an inspiration to me, she’s been joyful to me, she’s always been somebody that I could call and be there for me. I just love that about her.”

A WNBA legend

This wasn’t the first time Reese has publicly praised Wilson. Earlier in the 2024 WNBA season, she was thrilled to see herself included in Wilson‘s Instagram photo dump, excitedly commenting, “Omgg i made the goats dumppp.”

Wilson‘s career is filled with accomplishments: two league titles, a Finals MVP, two Defensive Player of the Year awards, and six All-Star selections. This year, she also became the first player in WNBA history to surpass 1,000 points in a single season, further solidifying her legacy.
