Broncos vs. Saints live updates: Carr and Hill inactive, Kendre Miller makes season debut

The Broncos will be without All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain II tonight due to a head injury. This time, at least, Denver will be prepared for his absence.

Surtain suffered a concussion on Denver’s first defensive play of its 23-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Without Surtain, the Chargers jumped to a 23-0 lead and Justin Herbert had a season-high in passing yards by halftime (184).

The injury to Surtain came one week after he intercepted two passes and returned one of them 100 yards for a touchdown in a 34-18 win against the Las Vegas Raiders. He was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.

Ja’Quan McMillian, the Broncos’ nickel defensive back, and veteran Levi Wallace split time outside in Surtain’s absence and figure to repeat those duties against a Saints team that is depleted at wide receiver. The Broncos could also get cornerback Damarri Mathis back from IR. He is listed as questionable.
