Following a hectic time at the French capital, while most of the track athletes are winding up their season, Thomas is just getting started. The single most important piece of news is that the 27-year-old is the face of Alexis Ohanian-led Athlos. 

For the uninitiated, Athlos is a highly lucrative, women-centric track and field event. With a cumulative prize pool of $500,000 and an individual prize of $60,000 on the line, Gabby Thomas is currently training hard to compete in the all-women race on September 26. But that’s not the only thing keeping Thomas busy these days. After winning three Olympic gold medals, the 27-year-old athlete’s life has undoubtedly changed, and with more responsibilities on her plate, she’s finding it a bit challenging to adjust to her new reality.

After the game, the crowd was treated to a remarkable moment as three modern-day sporting icons—Simone Biles, Gabby Thomas, and Caitlin Clark—came together. The arena erupted in cheers as the trio hugged and posed for photos, creating a memorable moment for everyone in attendance.

Next up, during a recent visit to the Barclays Center, Gabby Thomas caught up with fellow Olympian Sabrina Ionescu. The two athletes enjoyed Liberty’s dominant performance, looking thrilled to have crossed paths. With opportunities like these, Thomas is exploring new territories outside of track and field to clear her mind. However, for now, she needs to put everything aside and focus on her training. With a $60k prize on the line, the 27-year-old will aim to add another historic achievement to her list. But balancing so many commitments can be demanding at times. Speaking about her experience, the 3x Olympic gold medalist said in an interview with Citius Mag, “There’s been so much opportunity and I’ve been having so much fun just doing fun events and going to other sporting events.” 

Thomas was also spotted in the stands at the recently concluded US Open. And if that was not enough, the Olympic champion also took on the mantle of a fashion model as she stole the New York Fashion Week with her ‘princess’ themed dress. Surely, all these activities are bound to put Thomas in a spot of bother. She opened up about her struggles as doing so many things all at once was not her cup of tea till now. Thomas said, “And of course, I’m still training, so that’s a little bit challenging, just kind of balancing being an elite athlete and also taking advantage of all these great opportunities.” Interestingly, it is not just the fun visits that are occupying Thomas. The Olympic champion was also spotted soaking in the thrill of pickleball. With the sport gaining huge popularity, Thomas uploaded a picture of herself trying her hand at it while dazzling in a white mini-skirt and a sports bra. Meanwhile, even with all the fun and frolic in her life, Gabby Thomas’ primary aim is to change the women’s track and field sport for the good. 

Thomas looks to revolutionize women’s track and field

If Gabby Thomas was not an Olympic champion, she would have continued with her healthcare job. Being a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in neurobiology from Harvard University, and a subsequent master’s degree in health from the University of Texas Health Science Center, there is no scarcity of jobs for Gabby Thomas. However, the champion is always thinking about the future. Thus, when Alexis Ohanian let Thomas know about his master plan, Athlos, Thomas immediately grabbed it with both hands. 

Looking for a secure future in women’s track and field for his beloved daughter Olympia, Ohanian used his financial flex for a good cause. Ohanian stated that Athlos was an attempt to make women flourish in track and field while getting paid appropriately for their efforts. Thrilled at the concept, Gabby Thomas expressed her excitement to be a part of the process. She said to Citius Mag, “This is bigger than myself and it’s bigger than this race. It’s bigger than just the six of us lining up…It’s really about what we’re doing for women’s sports.” 

With 36 athletes slated to participate in this groundbreaking event, the early steps that Athlos is taking today are expected to have a lasting impact on future generations.
