Caitlin Clark has taken the basketball world by storm, especially young girls who show up to games in awe of this powerful female athlete. Clark has qualities that we all admire in people, regardless of their profession, hard work, tremendous skill, and the great American trait of taking crap from nobody. On June 7 in a game between Clark’s team, the Indiana Fever and the Washington Mystics it drew a crowd of 20,333, the most attended WNBA game in 17 years. She is also the reason why people are watching the WNBA more. Her team is one of the worst teams record-wise, but they lead the league in attendance more than the New York Liberty, one of the best teams in the league with players like Sabrina Ionescu and Brenanna Stewart.
The incident which has upset the country was Chennedy Carter technical foul on Clark which all basketball fans, whether they like her or not, have stated was a dirty play. Clark has been subject to physicality that some have argued is unfair. Many basketball pundits, like Charles Barkley and Steven A Smith to non-basketball pundits like Bill Maher have argued that it is based on jealousy. When you get multimillion dollar deals when others have not, some WNBA players have showed they don’t care about woman. Race and sexual orientation might be a factor in her detractors. These thoughts are misguided. Her success will make others successful. Seeing girls inspired is good for women’s sports.
