The “Sunday Night Football” matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers started over an hour late after being delayed due to lightning near Acrisure Stadium.

The game, originally scheduled to kick off at 8:22 p.m. ET, kicked off at 9:45 p.m. ET. Players took the field at 9:25 p.m. ET for warmups.

The Steelers announced around 8 p.m. ET that the start of the game was delayed “until further notice” when lightning began to strike near the stadium. Fans were initially told they could stay in their seats, but the lightning continued and fans were advised to clear the area as the rain turned into a downpour.

Pittsburgh is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 11 p.m. ET, according to Weather.com.

Sunday night’s matchup features two of the most decorated franchises in NFL history with the Steelers having six Super Bowl wins in franchise history and the Cowboys having five.

Entering the SNF matchup, the Steelers have a 3-1 record, while the Cowboys are 2-2 on the season.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
