The back end of an NFL roster can sometimes be an act of musical chairs. How about adding the grandson of a musical legend to that mix?

Dallas worked out four UFL players on Tuesday. That included San Antonio Brahmas outside linebacker Wyatt Ray, the grandson of famous musician Nat King Cole. His aunt is Natalie Cole, who also was a singer and an actress, as well.

Ray, a former Boston College product, has bounced around the NFL. He went undrafted in 2019 and spent time on multiple different NFL rosters before he first appeared in a game with the Tennessee Titans in 2020. Ray also spent time on the active roster of the Bengals and the Broncos, but he hasn’t played in the NFL since 2022. He has two career sacks.

Ray, 27, played with the San Antonio Brahmas this past season. He had seven sacks and 29 pressures in 260 pass rushing attempts, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Cowboys also worked out former Green Bay Packers defensive end Jonathan Garvin and former Sam Houston State defensive end Derick Roberson. Garvin had 3.5 sacks this past season for the Birmingham Stallions. Roberson had 26 pressures and six sacks this past season for the D.C. Defenders.

Dallas also worked out fullback John Lovett, who played with the Brahmas this season, as well. Lovett had six touchdowns this past season.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Cowboys hadn’t signed any of the four.

The Cowboys have previously signed two other UFL players this off-season: linebacker Willie Harvey Jr. and former first-round corner Gareon Conley.
