Hancock men’s soccer team stays unbeaten

Erick Jimenez and Anthony Tamayo scored a goal each and assisted each other on two more tallies in the last eight minutes, and the Bulldogs (3-0-1) remained perfect on the season with a 2-0 non-conference win at College of the Sequoias Tuesday.

Jimenez scored in the 82nd minute with an assist from Tamayo, and Tamayo tallied in the 88th minute with an assist from Jimenez as the Bulldogs (3-0-1) tagged the Giants (3-1-2) with their first loss of the year.

Hancock’s Connor Moreno was tagged with a red card near the end of the first half and will miss the next Bulldogs game.

Bulldogs goalkeeper Max Brewster had five saves. The Bulldogs will play a non-league game at Taft Thursday at 4 p.m.

Women’s soccer 

COS 3, Hancock 0

The College of the Sequoias women shut out Hancock, and the Giants moved to 2-2-0. The Bulldogs are 2-2-0.

The Bulldogs took nine shots on goal, and Giants goalkeeper Haylie Brasil saved them all. Hancock will play at Taft Thursday at 2 p.m.

Boys water polo

Santa Ynez 12, Carpinteria 8

Cooper Haws tossed in six goals to help the Pirates win this non-league game which was Santa Ynez’s home opener.

Cooper Paulson scored three times for Santa Ynez. Ben Stuerman, Eric Brian and Beau Woodall tossed in a goal apiece. Stuerman, the Santa Ynez goalkeeper in the first half, made 12 saves. Jake Montejano, the Pirates goalie in the second half, made eight.

Haws blocked three shots. The Pirates (3-4) will play at San Luis Obispo next Tuesday at 4 p.m. in their league opener.

Girls tennis 

Santa Ynez 7, Clovis West 2

Keegan Withrow won her No. 1 singles match in straight sets and teamed with Haley Townes for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles to help the Pirates roll to a non-league win.

Kate Mazza and Natalie O’Shaughnessy teamed for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles then won their respective singles matches. Danielle Hyland won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles for Santa Ynez, and Claire Tipich and Ainsley Haws teamed for a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles.

Lompoc 9, Pioneer Valley 0

The Braves moved to 4-0 with a win over the Panthers. Gianna Paredes and Azra Perez helped boost Lompoc with an 8-3 win in doubles, and the Lompoc singles players had a solid match.

Girls water polo

Santa Ynez 23, Santa Maria 2

Jordan Gann and Haylee Fox tossed in six goals apiece as the Pirates rolled to a non-league win over the Saints.

Paige Reynolds, Juliette Kerr and Adriana Bilac all scored three times for Santa Ynez, and Weylin Hawkins tallied twice. Kerr had six assists, Gann had four and Hawkins had three. Reynolds made four steals.
