The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to terms with quarterback E.J. Perry.
To make way for Perry, the Jaguars waived undrafted free agent receiver Brevin Easton on Monday.
Perry is returning to the team for the final week of the preseason against the Atlanta Falcons with backup QB C.J. Beathard ruled out earlier this week due to a groin injury. Beathard went down late during the team’s Week 2 preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Mac Jones was forced back into the game and led the team to a second touchdown drive to push the team’s lead over the Bucs to 20-7 in the fourth quarter.
Jaguars camp Day 19:Trevor Lawrence near-perfect in the longest day of camp
Perry began his NFL career with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He spent the season on the team’s practice squad before being released the following year. In December last year, Perry returned to the team’s practice squad while Trevor Lawrence recovered from a concussion suffered against the Baltimore Ravens.
Perry was last seen in the UFL with the Michigan Panthers. He completed 67-of-112 passes for 785 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions with Michigan between 2023-24.
The Jaguars are expected to play most of the team’s starters for about two quarters, head coach Doug Pederson said Monday. The expectation is Jones will take most, if not all of the team’s second-half reps and with Perry’s signing, the former UFL QB could play in the event of an injury to Jones.
