In a recent YouTube video with Heartland College Sports’ Pete Mundo, On3’s Andy Staples discussed the incredible amount of parity in the Big 12 Conference.

Staples mentioned multiple teams with a shot at winning the Big 12 title in 2024 and dubbed the league the “most interesting week-to-week conference” in college football.

“I think it’s the most interesting week-to-week conference in college football because everybody is so similar,” Staples said. “I don’t think you have to worry as much about intra-conference strife at the administrative level because everybody is kind of in the same boat now. That’s helpful in terms of trying to get things done as a conference. It’s not ideal because you’re still dealing with less revenue share than the SEC and the Big Ten, but in terms of a competitive football product, it’s going to be incredible.

Staples highlighted numerous teams with a chance to win the Big 12 Conference in 2024, and according to ESPN’s FPI, the league has 10 representatives with more than a 4% chance of winning the Big 12 Championship Game.

“If you look at this league, you need two hands to count who might actually win the league this year,” Staples continued. “It’s so much fun, and you’ve got new teams coming in, with Utah and Arizona, that can compete for a league title right away. Maybe Colorado could, but we’ll see. Then you have your stalwarts who have been here, your Kansas State’s and Oklahoma State’s and then what we’ve seen the last few years is that somebody is going to come out of nowhere.”
