ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – Together Tuesday was held July 2 at the Rapides Parish Health Unit and was a great place for the community to get help!
Together Tuesday offers a safe place where community agencies can come together with resources on maternal health, wellness and nutrition and support services.
“The Together Tuesday concept has now evolved into a community event we host every month. We do that not only here in the Rapides Health Unity, but we have similar programming throughout Central Louisiana,” said Dr. Christina Lord, Medical Director for the Office of Public Health.
The Office of Public Health and Women, Infant and Children Heath Services partnered with the LSU AgCenter to provide food demonstrations to the community on food nutrition and safety. They have offices all over Cenla to offer once a month a place where people can come and learn more about nutrition.
“We want to bring all the supporting resources to our community. A lot of these young mothers don’t know where to go for support and for additional resources that will assist them in parenting,” said Cindy Upton, Assistant Nutrition Agent for the LSU AgCenter.
Every first Tuesday of each month they host a Together Tuesday in hopes of helping and serving the community!
