Marc Lillibridge and the San Antonio Brahmas made another impressive addition to their secondary. Former NFL safety Tariq Carpenter has agreed to terms with the Brahmas for the 2025 UFL season, bringing even more depth to an already strong defensive unit.

Tariq Carpenter played the entirety of his college football at Georgia Tech. He saw his first real action in 2018, starting all 13 games at strong safety – totaling 55 tackles, seven PBU’s, and two interceptions. The next year, he led all DB’s with 62 tackles as a junior.

Due to COVID, Tariq got to play two seasons as a “senior”. Across that two year span, he posted over 100 tackles, an interception, and several PBU’s.

Carpenter’s success at Georgia Tech led to plenty of NFL interest. He ended up signing with the Green Bay Packers, having been a seventh round draft pick for the team in 2022.

That season, Tariq appeared in several games for Green Bay as a rookie – posting eight tackles. He entered the 2023 NFL campaign with Green Bay, but made the jump to the Pittsburgh Steelers midway through the year. He had two tackles for the Steelers that year.

After spending some time on and off of the Steelers practice squad, Carpenter now turns to the UFL to continue his professional career. The San Antonio Brahmas had arguably the top defense in the league last year – and now add someone who has the potential to earn a starting role in Will Reed’s secondary.
