Sunday recap: Whitman College’s women’s soccer team downs Pacific

Virginia Hunt scored in the 83rd minutes lifting Whitman College’s NCAA Division III women’s soccer team to victory Sunday, Oct. 20, as the Blues held on to beat Pacific University with a 2-1 win at their Northwest Conference match in Forest Grove, Oregon.

Victory made the Blues league record so far this season 5-3-2, ranking them third of the nine teams, with their overall mark at 8-4-2.

Among other highlights for the Blues was Violet Holme scoring off an assist from teammate Ellie Cortes-Muniz to tie things up in the final seconds of the first half.

College men’s soccer

PACIFIC 1, WHITMAN 0 — The fourth-place Blues (8-4-2) fell despite goalie Lucas Haigh helping their defense keep them within striking distance to the end of the NWC match as he made two saves in Forest Grove.

THE EVERGREEN STATE COLLEGE 8, WALLA WALLA UNIVERSITY 0 — The Cascade Collegiate Conference had its 13th-place Wolves (1-8), out of College Place, struggling as goalie Kylan LeGault managed to make four saves against a shooting barrage that overwhelmed WWU by a 21-10 margin in Olympia.
