Utah Quarterback Cam Rising to Play vs. Oklahoma State

One of the biggest questions in all of college football ahead of Week 4 was the status of Utah quarterback Cam Rising. The Utes are set for a massive road test against No. 14 Oklahoma State, and having their star quarterback available in Stillwater will be vital to their chances of winning.

Josh Furlong of KSL Sports reported on Monday evening that Rising will play against Oklahoma State this week, per wide receiver Dorian Singer. Brett McMurphy of Action Network corroborated the report by saying that sources indicated to him last week that Rising would play against the Cowboys.

The impact of having Rising available cannot be overstated for the Utes. A seventh-year senior who’s seen more football than most will be incredibly valuable for an offense in a hostile road environment.

Utah is coming off a 38-21 win over Utah State, and with Rising out, the Utes turned to freshman Isaac Wilson, the younger brother of former BYU standout Zach Wilson.

In his first start, Wilson went 20-33 (60.6%) with three touchdowns and one interception. While he certainly got better as the game went along, playing at Utah State and at Oklahoma State are totally different experiences.

Rising has played in just five quarters this season, but he’s been sensational during that stretch — tossing for 346 yards and seven touchdowns with no turnovers.

Oklahoma State opened up as a two-point favorite on Sunday, but the line has now moved to two points in Utah’s favor. Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 3:00 p.m. CT, with coverage provided by FOX.
